BBC Radio 2: Growing Up With God – Tuesday 27th Oct, 10:30pm

I’ll be on the radio again tomorrow. This time for a BBC 2 documentary about children and faith/lack of faith. I’ll be talking a bit about Camp Quest and a bit about raising children in a non-religious community. At least, that’s what we talked about, I may have been edited out of the realms of [...]

Fun times at BBC Radio 2

My mood has been very up and down recently, but yesterday was one of those weirdly wonderful days.
I woke up to an out-of-the-blue e-mail from someone I met at AAI 2008 (Atheist Alliance International for all those not in the know) telling me what a good job I had done with Camp Quest and generally [...]

The Atheist and the Bishop: I talk to AC Grayling and Richard Harries

This afternoon I made my way to Canada Water, safe in the knowledge that my tube fares were being covered by the BBC. I was heading to Bacon’s College, a Church of England funded academy, to take part in a documentary series for BBC Radio 4 called “The Atheist and the Bishop”. This sets up [...]

Fan mail

Dear Samantha
I live in *** and was listening to the radio this morning and I heard you being interviewed about the Camp Quest 2009.
I like your passion for this cause, but at the same time I would like to say that I am praying for you, that you may see that the stars you study and the trees you [...]

Feeling a bit blue today

I’ve been doing something a little depressing. I’ve been googling Camp Quest UK, and myself.
There’s been so much conjecture out there on the internet. A couple of them have attacked me/my acting skills on youtube quite personally.
We are getting a lot of positive comments, but the outrageous comments are the ones which get attention. Such [...]

David Mitchell mocks us, traffic skyrockets

Not really. But this article by David Mitchell shows just how far word has spread of Camp Quest UK. Being mocked by such a funny man actually feels more like a badge of honour than an attack. I saw him on Jonathon Ross the other week and decided that since he was single, I want [...]

My media day

I write this lying in bed, blinds down, bbc breakfast news soothing me in the background, willing the children not to be awake.
Yesterday was HUGE and I still haven’t processed a lot of it. Camp Quest was featured on the FRONT PAGE of the Sunday Times, as well as an additional article and an editorial.  [...]

A very interesting weekend

Camp Quest UK has been featured in a series of articles in the Sunday Times (including front page!) and I have spent all morning responding to the media and writing corrections. These can be found at:

Our training weekend has gone fantastically well and our programme is set for camp!
I’m due to head down to the [...]

Success, and Camp Quest

It’s been about a year since Camp Quest UK really started going anywhere at all, and about 18 months since I first decided to set up.
I’ve never really thought of myself as remarkable, other than in my fantasies which consist of me accepting my Oscar for playing myself in a movie about how I wiped [...]
